Area Rug Cleaning That Costs Less Than Replacing It
When a wash beats a replacement
Area rug cleaning is the cheaper path when the foundation is intact and the pile is only dull from soil. Grit sitting at the base of the yarn cuts fibers every time someone walks across it. A wash lifts that grit. A new rug does not fix the traffic pattern that wore the last one out, and it costs more than a plant wash for a rug that still has years left.
Wash, rinse, and fringe grooming
Wall-to-wall wands are the wrong tool. The rug comes off the floor, gets a dry soil removal, then a wash matched to the fiber and dye. Rinsing has to be complete or leftover detergent attracts more soil. Fringe is groomed, not chopped, and the rug dries flat so the back does not shrink or mildew.
What to check before you book
Look at the back. If the weave is splitting or the center is worn to the foundation, cleaning will not rebuild yarn that is gone. If the pile is intact and the problem is gray traffic lanes, odor, or dusty fringe, a wash is the repair. We have cleaned rugs this way since 2013.
