Pet Stain and Odor Treatment for Urine in Carpet Fibers

Yellow rings, ammonia smell, and the corner your pet keeps using
Old urine shows as a yellow or brown ring that comes back after you scrub it. The smell is sharp and ammonia-like, and it gets stronger on humid days or when the heat kicks on. Urine wicks down through the yarn into the pad and sometimes the subfloor, so the wet zone underneath is often wider than the mark on top. Your pet can smell what is left and goes back to the same spot.
Why sprays and rental machines bring the smell back
A deodorizing spray covers the surface and fades in a day or two. Rental machines and store foams add water, and that water pushes the urine deeper into the pad and spreads it wider. The urine salts left behind keep off-gassing whenever moisture hits them. If you can still smell it after a normal carpet cleaning, the accident was never reached.
How we treat urine in the yarn and the pad
We start with a UV lamp to find the spots you stopped seeing and mark where they end. Then an EPA Safer Choice enzyme treatment goes on deep enough to reach the pad and break down the urine salts. Truck-mounted hot-water extraction flushes out what the enzyme loosened, with no perfume to hide anything. Plan on 4 to 8 hours of dry time, and expect more than one pass in corners with repeat accidents.
When the pad or subfloor must go, and what to tell us
If a pet has used the same spot for months, the pad may be soaked through and the subfloor stained, and cleaning the carpet alone will not fix that. In that case the pad needs replacing and the subfloor needs sealing, and we will tell you plainly if that is where it stands. When you call, say whether it is a fresh miss or a long-running corner, dog or cat, and how many rooms. Cat urine covers less area but holds a harder odor.
