Signs fur is packed deep in your carpet
Run your palm against the nap near the couch or your pet's favorite spot. If a gray felt of fur rolls up, the vacuum is only getting the top layer. You may also see a dull, matted look in the traffic lanes and catch a stale animal smell when the heat comes on. Pet hair carpet cleaning is needed because cut yarn grabs fur and holds onto it.
Why the vacuum, tape, and rubber broom stop short
A beater bar knocks some fur loose and leaves the rest wrapped around the fiber, especially in berber and frieze. Rubber brooms and tape pick up the surface coat. They do not reach the hair packed against the backing, and that hair holds dander and skin oil. A second dry pass with a household vacuum mostly moves the same fur around.
How truck-mounted extraction pulls the fur out
First we dry vacuum to lift the loose hair. Then we pre-spray the traffic lanes and pet resting spots, which matters more than another dry pass. Truck-mounted hot-water extraction wets the yarn, loosens the hair, and pulls it into the recovery tank with the soil. The products are EPA Safer Choice, so pets can go back on the carpet once it is dry to the touch, usually 4 to 8 hours.
When the smell stays after the fur is gone
Hair is a soil problem. Urine that has reached the pad is a different job, with a UV inspection and an enzyme treatment. If the room still smells after the hair is gone, the pad is holding the accident.
