Hardwood Floor Cleaning That Leaves the Finish Intact
Water is the thing that ruins the job
Hardwood floor cleaning fails when a mop leaves standing water in the joints. Boards cup, finishes haze, and a site-finished floor and a factory aluminum-oxide floor do not forgive the same mistakes. The soil on most hardwood is a sticky mix of spills and detergent, sitting on the finish, not inside the wood.
Clean the film, keep the boards dry
We identify the finish, then use a cleaner and a method that lift the film without flooding the seams. Abrasive pads that are correct on stone will cut a polyurethane sheen. If the finish is already worn through to bare wood in a lane, cleaning will not put the finish back. That is a refinish, and we will say so.
Day to day after the visit
Dust mop the grit before it is ground into the sheen. Skip the soaking string mop. For the film that dust mopping no longer moves, call (949) 992-3299 and tell us if the floor is site-finished or prefinished.
