Signs the water went further than the puddle
Water damage restoration starts with the water you can't see. A supply line leak looks like one wet spot, but the water wicks into the carpet pad, up the drywall, and into cabinet bases. Watch for a swollen baseboard, a dark line low on the wall, carpet that squishes near the edge, or a musty smell by the second day. Mold can start in wet material within 24 to 48 hours.
Why towels and a box fan stop short
Towels and a fan dry the surface you can touch. The pad under the carpet, the bottom of the wall, and the particleboard under the sink stay wet, and that is where the loss grows. Clean water that sits for a day is harder to dry and more likely to grow mold. Speed decides whether you dry the materials you have or replace them.
The first visit: extract, set drying, meter the wet layers
We pull out standing water first. Then we set air movers and dehumidifiers for the wet rooms. A moisture meter reads the pad, drywall, and framing, so we dry the whole wet area instead of guessing from the surface. Affected areas are cleaned with EPA Safer Choice products where they fit the job.
When materials come out, and what to say when you call
If the water came from a drain or outdoor floodwater, the pad, drywall, or cabinet bases it touched may need to come out, and we will say which. Shut off the source if you can do it safely, and keep the HVAC off if the return is in the wet room. Call (949) 992-3299 and tell us the source, how long the water sat, and which rooms are wet. We will tell you when we can get there and be straight about what can be dried. We have done this since 2021, Google Guaranteed and BBB A+.
