What a restricted dryer vent looks and smells like

Clothes need a second cycle, the top of the dryer is hot to the touch, or the laundry room smells like baked lint. Outside, the hood flap barely lifts while the dryer runs, or lint collects around the cap. These signs show up before a failure. They matter because packed lint plus heat is a fire risk.

Why emptying the lint screen is not enough

The screen catches some lint. The rest rides the air into the hose behind the dryer, the pipe through the wall, and the cap outside. A screen you empty every load can still sit in front of a line that is half closed. A store-bought brush pushed in from the laundry room usually clears the first few feet and packs the rest deeper toward the bends.

How we clear the line from dryer to outside hood

We move the dryer, disconnect the transition, and brush and vacuum the line all the way to the exterior. Then we clean the cap so the flap opens freely. If the old transition is crushed vinyl hose, we point it out, and a rigid or semi-rigid transition is the safer replacement. We reconnect the dryer and run it so we can feel airflow at the cap.

When cleaning won't fix it, and what to tell us

Sometimes airflow is still weak after a full clear. The cause may be a run that is too long, has too many turns, or has come apart inside the wall, or the dryer itself may have a problem, and we will tell you what we found. When you call (949) 992-3299, tell us whether the dryer sits on an outside wall or the run goes up through the roof, because roof runs take longer. We have cleaned dryer vents in Irvine and Orange County since 2021, and we are Google Guaranteed with a BBB A+ rating.
