Oriental Rug Cleaning for Hand-Knotted Wool and Silk Pile
Hand-knotted is not wall-to-wall
Oriental rug cleaning treats a knotted pile, a foundation, and dyes that were not made for a truck-mount wand. Soil ground into the knots cuts the wool. The wrong pH or a dye that was never fast will bleed in a wash that is too aggressive. Silk in the pile or the foundation changes the method again.
Dust, test, wash, dry flat
Dry soil comes out before water is introduced. Dyes are tested. The wash is pH-balanced and rinsed until the chemistry is gone, because residue is what makes a rug soil faster the next year. Drying is flat and supported so the rug does not shrink or mildew. IICRC-certified technicians handle the piece.
Longevity is the soil you remove
A rug lasts longer when grit is not left in the knots. Cleaning on a real interval does that. Waiting until the center is thin does not. Call (949) 992-3299 and tell us the fiber and about how old the rug is.
